Injury Hit Atlético Andalucía CF Beat Club Deportiva Monda 2-0 Away
2nd October, 2010
Atlético Andalucía CF kicked off their third game of 2010-11 campaign, the club traveled away to a strong Monda who lost their opening game 3-2 against Manilva. Atletico would travel with several of their first team players injured including Mali forward Oumar Salif Traore and captain Richard Sutcliffe who both are out with knee injuries and Swedish defender Christopher Tore Sjostrand was unavailable for selection.
Last season Monda only lost once at home which if repeated again will enable the club to finish in the top four. Before the game Share played down the importance of the game as he said "I know we have had a bad start to the season but I really believe we can turn the season around. I have always said that as long as you win most of your home games then I believe at the end of the season we can still push for promotion. As we lost at home last week it is important that we pick up a win away from home to try and make up for the lost points. Monda are a very strong team at home so if we do not get the three points there then I am sure with the hard work we will soon get them".
For the third game in a row Atletico would start the strongest and looked to play an attacking game. After 10 minutes it was clear that the game would be a very hard fought contest with both teams looking to win each ball. Both teams would have chances but could not find a final quality ball to make it count.
Atletico would come the closest when a Ismael Lledo Flores ball put Amin Samii through on goal to be one on one with the Monda goalkeeper. Amin could only skip past the goalkeeper and drag his shot wide.
The first half would end 0-0 with Monda looking to take advanced in the second half from Atletico's miss chances.
With the home crowd behind them Monda came out in the second half stronger. They twice came close to get on score sheet with both opportunities coming from crosses. One of the chances was kicked off the line by Sergio Inglesias Hidalgo and the other punched away by Atletico Goalkeeper Carlos Moreno.
Atletico looked to tighten the midfield and started to make more chances for themselves. In the 62nd minute the club was awarded a free kick just outside the box. From the resulting free kick Alberto Salas Ramirez played a prefect ball into the box for Paraguayan Willain Riveros to head the ball in the top corner to put Atletico 1-0 up.
With the score 1-0 Share took forward Angel Blanco Sanchez off to change the formation from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 with Francisco Becerra joining Scott Steele and Amin Samii in the center of the midfield.
Atletico would hold the home team for the next 20 minutes. In the 81st minute Atletico would double their lead when from a loose ball forward Ismael Lledo Flores was put through on goal to coolly slot pass the Monda Goalkeeper and put Atletico 2-0 up with 9 minutes of play left.
The score would end 2-0 to the visitors. Atletico now jump to joint 5th place in league standings.
Atletico's head coach Share said after the game "I am pleased with the preformance, I thought for the first time we were very disciplined and worked as a unit. We have worked hard in the last two weeks trying to solve some of our issues we have had in the last two games. We will continue to work hard as we are playing catch up now because of the two bad previously results we have had. If next week we play as we did tonight then we will give Bonela a good game at home".
