Atlético Andalucía Lose Marbella Derby Against Atlético Marbella 2-0

31st October, 2010.

Atlético Andalucía CF kicked off their third away game of 2010-11 campaign, the club faced promotion contenders Atletico Marbella in what was the first Marbella Derby of the season. Marbella arguably the best team in the division were looking to go top with a win against Atlético Andalucía CF.

Atlético Andalucía CF Head Coach Mike Share only was able to name two substitutes as several players did not receive the required clearance to play in time, Share set up his team in an attacking manner for the Marbella Derby.

The club started the game very well and pressed Marbella high up the pitch. Atlético Andalucia would have more possession in the first 10 minutes but could not find that decisive ball in the last half of the pitch as the game started to look evenly matched.

In the 20th minute Atlético Andalucía CF should have been awarded with a penalty against Jose Cotes with the referee looking away. It would be the story of the game as the referee seemed to be intimidated by the home crowd.

Atlético Andalucía would continue to press forward and should have had a second penalty on the 30th minute mark Ismael Flores was brought down. The referee again could not make the correct decision as home advantage looked obvious.

With five minutes left Atletico Andalucia CF looked to have broken the deadlock with a superb ball played into the box. Becerra would take the ball wide and released a shot that looked to give the away team the lead only for the inform Marbella Goalkeeper May to deny Becerra. The 1st half would end 0-0 with the away team not able to take the best opportunities in the game.

In the second half Atletico's Head Coach Share brought on Amin Samii for Salvador Espada who was booked in the first half. The second half Marbella would start better as they looked to press Atletico more deep. Their persistence to press Atlético Andalucia was rewarded when from a corner Moulaye headed the ball past Moreno.

Things got even worse for the away team when a wrongly awarded penalty gave the home team the chance to double their lead. Atletico Andalucia goalkeeper Moreno guessed correctly but could not save David Pose's penalty as it was hit under his body.

Atletico looked to get a goal back and their best chance fell to Scott Steele who hit from 30 yards a volley only for the ball to be tipped over the bar by the inform goalkeeper May. At the end of the game Atletico's misery was completed when Columbian winger Jose Cotes was booked for the second time and sent off which would be another bad decision by the referee.

The game would end 2-0 and the club's next game is on Saturday at home against Balazo Alozaina with a 17:00pm kickoff.

Coach Share went on to say "I thought we were unlucky to not take any points from the game it was difficult to play with only two subs but the first half performance is one of the best I have seen so far. I am sticking by what I have said that with time in the next game or so we will start picking up the points we need. It's a new team and it's plain for anyone to see that the team is starting to gel".
