Atlético Andalucía CF Hand Two Gifts To CD Cala Mijas To Lose 2-1 26th September, 2010

Atlético Andalucía CF kicked off their 2010-2011 season home opener to CD Cala Mijas. For the second game in a row Atlético would have disastrous start.

After only 50 seconds CD Cala Mijas scored when a long ball wide was crossed into the box which was well put away by the Cala Mijas forward.

Five minutes later things went from bad to worse for Atlético when Sergio conceded a penalty. From the resulting penalty CD Cala Mijas doubled their lead.

Atlético's bad luck would continue when two of their key players were injured. This left coach Share having to make already two substitutions and being 2-0 down after only 20 minutes of play.

With 10 minutes left in the first half Atlético could have pulled a goal back but Oumar Salif Traore could not finish when he went clear through on goal.

The second half Share had asked his team to come out and play a quicker tempo to create more chances. The team didn't disappoint their manager as more opportunities were made but sadly the team could not capitalise on their chances.

Atlético would continue to enjoy most of the possession with good chances to score for both Robby Davey and Oumar Salif Traore. Atlético kept pushing forward and were finally rewarded when Fabian Ponce Sanchez scored in 88th minute to make the final score 2-1.

Coach Share said "I felt we again lost the game in the first 10 minutes. We can not afford to do this and more disappointing is that I told the team to stay focused and they should expect from Cala Mijas. Despite losing the game I thought we were the better side and I was pleased with the effort the team put in the second half. We showed a lot more character then last week and hopefully we can now build on the performance and start also getting the points we desperately need".

Share went on to praise Scott Steele who was the stand in captain for the injured Richard Sutcliffe "I thought Scott was exceptional, he lead the team by example and what we have to remember is that he has only played his current position for the last five weeks. I thought he was by far the best player on the pitch".

Atlético Andalucía CF next game is away against Monda on the 3rd of October. Kickoff will be announced on Tuesday.
