Atlético Andalucia CF 2010-2011 Season Update Interview Issue One 16 May, 2010
This past Saturday. Mike Share sat down with Atlético Andalucía CF´s media relations to talk about his thoughts and plans for the upcoming season. The club will look to interview Mike and his coaching staff leading up to the inaugural season over the next couple of months.

Firstly with the season fast approaching how is the team coming together?

The team is coming together very well. It is never easy for any coach to put a team together from scratch normally you already have a base to work with from the previous head coach but luckily I have experience having been in the same situation last season in America. I am sure this was one of the factors why the club employed me.

What can you tell us about the group of players who are at the club that have been signed?

We have a good mix of players, young and experienced and I fully expect us to be able to challenge for the league, that has to be our aim and I am very confident that we can achieve this. I am currently talking to a few more new faces and hope by the end of the month to sign another 6 players which would take our total number of players to 19. I only want a squad of 23 players so we are not far away now.

Daniel Waymont is one of the players you signed from your former club. The deal is still pending, can you explain in more detail what the terms are?

Daniel is a good player who had a solid season with my previous club. Without going into too much detail he needs to play well for his current club. If he plays enough games and scores, then their is no reason why he can´t be given a chance to come and play for us. He needs to do well if not I have no reason to be able to bring him over especially with the good forwards we already have at the club. When you bring new players in they have to be better then what you already have at the club.

What do you expect the next year will bring you?

This year has been very good to me. I am proud and privilege to be able to manage Atlético. Everything has gone to plan up to this point and I am happy to be back in Europe. On a personal note it´s very exciting times for me and my wife as we are expecting our first baby in the summer a beautiful baby girl. At the moment things can not get any better, maybe England can win the World Cup and come Christmas we will be first.

With a baby on the way and having to not just prepare yourself but also a team for the upcoming season what would you say is different between your previous club in America and your responsibilities here?

There is not a huge difference. Football wise America is completely different, training wise it will be the same but with the season being much longer I have had to hit the gym more and up to date I am 8kg lighter. I wanted to be sure come pre season that I am fighting fit and can concentrate on the players. This is important as I also play a part on the field. Our baby will not make any difference as she will be born before pre season. This is nice as it will give me extra time with my family before everything starts. I am hoping that this season everyone will see the best of me not just as a coach but as a player. Come May I hope to celebrate being Champions with my baby girl.

As a head coach do you mainly look outside Spain for you transfer targets?

Too be honest we look everywhere. We have a strong base of Spanish and English players but we have also signed a Welsh, Argentinian and French player. As a coach I do not care where the player comes from as long as they are good enough and fit in our plans that´s all I ask for. Some people have told me you can´t win the league with loads of foreign players as there are politics involved. I am sure we will prove everyone wrong this season.

Lastly do you have a message to the fans?

Just that everyone at the club is working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the upcoming season is a big success. Come and support us and enjoy the entertaining football and we are sure we will make everyone proud to be part of our club.
